WHAT ARE THE USES OF CONCRETE?

 Concrete is used for various purposes.  They are discussed below.  

(1) Lime concrete: - It is used under foundations, under floors, terraced roofs, tile roofs, arched roofs, water roofs. 

(2) Ordinary cement concrete:-      This concrete is used for foundations, floors, roads, dams, bridges, or culverts, canals or riverbeds.  It is useful where only direct pressure can be applied along the axis.

 (3) Reinforced Cement Concrete: -This concrete is used where tension, twist, shear, torsion, or complex type of stress can occur.  Places such as ------ columns and their foundations, complex and deep foundations such as rafts or mats, piles and piles cap, lintels, chassis, beams, welded roofs, bridges, culverts, roads, humus pipes,  Etc.

 (4) Pre-Stressed Cement Concrete: -Where complex types of stress tension, pressure, etc. are very high and for general use, very large structures are required, such as bridge girders, large span beams, bridge decks, pressure pipes,  This concrete is used in railway slippers, power supply poles etc.
